The Tournament was sponsored by the Royal Ontario Museum and the Royal Heraldry Society of Canada. The tournament's patron was Robbie D Sprules, Lord of the Manor of Wrentnall.
The Appellants were Ottawa Medieval Sword Guild Schollers John Woods, Chris Penney and Mathieu Ravignat, as well as Jeremy Oneail, Principal of the Academy of Knightly Arts and Dale Geinow, President of the International Jousting Association.
The Defendants, AEMMA Toronto Scholar Aldo Valente, Free Schollers David Murphy and Kel Rekuta and Provosts David Cvet and Brian McIlmoyle, held the lists against all comers.
Combats were conducted with spear, poleaxe, sword and dagger. In all there were 20 duels conducted throughout the day. In the end the outcome was an equal number of victories for the Appellants and the Defendants.
The combats were spirited and at times quite aggressive, in the end all combatants escaped with only minor hurts and little blood spilled, having earned great honour for the exploit.
Mathieu Ravignat from the Ottawa Medieval Sword Guild was named "best of equals", having been victorious in all his fights, including a memorable battle with spears against Provost David Cvet. He was awarded a ceremonial Scottish Greatsword by Lady Lucinda, wife of the Lord of Wrentnall, as a symbol of his achievement.
After the combat of the day, the group retired to the AEMMA Salle D'Armes for a banquet and much needed drinks thereafter.
