Source: These arms are inspired by already existing arms for the surnames of the bearer’s mother and father.

Symbolism: To the bearer the tinctures represent striving for peace and sincerity in all aspects of life. The charge, a Gryphon divided Sable and Gules, is a combination of the lion Gules from the mother’s surname’s coat of arms, and the father’s Sable eagle. To the bearer Sable represents his aspiration for constancy, steadfastness of mind under duress, and Gules, for magnanimity and courage. The Gryphon’s amalgamation of the lion and eagle represents for the bearer courage and valour combined with vigilance and protection. It denotes the combination of intelligence and strength to overcome adversity. According to Alexander Nisbet in his System of Heraldry (Vol I, p 343, 1722, 1816): Gryphus significat sapientiam jungendam fortitudini, sed sapientiam debere praeire, fortitudinem sequi. “The Gryphon represents wisdom joined to fortitude, but wisdom should lead, and fortitude follow.” The bearer aspires to emulate the characteristics of the Gryphon.
